Navy to face #6 Ohio State in Columbus

Sept 1st, 2009

Navy to Battle Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday September 5th, 2009

Game Time: 12:00 noon on ESPN

Navy will take on the 6th ranked Buckeyes at the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio. While it won't be easy for Navy, they definatly have some advantages. One of those advantages is in the magic of the Triple Option, which will no doubt give the Buckeyes all they can handle, and his author hopes that it baffles Ohio State to no end.

This author and site manager has been a Navy Football fan for 39 years, and I do remember the 1981 Bowl Game with Navy taking on Ohio State. The difference in that Navy team and this 2009 is like night and day. The 1981 Navy team relied alot on passing the ball, and had mininmal sucess rushing the ball, this team however has been #1 in the country rushing the ball the last four years, is 7-0 vs Army and 6-1 vs. Air Force, has won the Commander-In-Chief Trophy the last six years in a row, is tied for 1st with Utah for the most wins vs. BCS teams (13), and this team will run the ball and have a greater emphsis on passing in 2009. This is what quarterback Ricky Dobbs worked on all summer long with Coach Ken Nuimatalolo and the Navy offensive coordinator.

The other advantage is that Navy returns 8 starters on the defensive side of the ball, nine if you include Blake Carter who saw significant action in 2008. This defense is very fast, flies to the ball and will have a neutralizing effect on the Ohio State offense.

Like Pryor of Ohio State, Navy boasts of a quarterback that is just as slick as Pryor, in Ricky Dobbs, he is elusive, and is very efficient and comfortable running the Triple Option.

My message to Coach Nuimatalolo is just go out and win...you have the chance to knock off the #6 team in the country and set your teams feet on solid ground....you know that they can't match the Triple Option in practice...You beat Ohio State, you would have a ranked Top 25 team for the first time since 2005. You also know that any team on your schedule which has one week or less, has no possible way to simulate all of the possibilities of the Triple Option, this fact was brought forth by the ESPN analysts who really believe that Navy can win nearly every game on their schdule. ESPN predicted that Navy would go 9-4 on the year. Keep the ball as much of each quarter as you can, GET FIRST DOWNS!!, and go for it anywhere on that field even on fourth down. BE A BALL HOG ON OFFENSE!!, AND SCORE LOTS OF TD'S, ANY WAY YOU CAN GET THEM, ON OFFENSE...DEFENSE OR SPECIAL TEAMS!!!!!.

JUST BEAT OHIO STATE!!!

Go Navy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..................................BEAT Ohio State!!!!!!!!!!
