Villanova Wildcats

The Villanova volleyball team closed out the 2009 season in a 3-0 (19-25, 21-25, 25-27) loss at Marquette Sunday afternoon.The Wildcats finish the season 16-13 overall and 5-9 in BIG EAST play.

Villanova (0-0) goes on the road for its 2009-10 season opener, as the Wildcats will face Sacred Heart (0-1) on Monday evening at the Pitt Center.

The start of the Philadelphia Big Five season arrives on Monday night at The Pavilion when No. 5 Villanova (1-0, 0-0 Big Five) takes on Penn (0-1, 0-0 Big Five). The teams are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

At the Villanova Swim Center on Friday evening, Villanova (1-4) opened the home portion of its schedule against West Virginia (2-2) and was defeated, 207-35, in a 13-event NCAA program. The Wildcats top performances included six third-place finishes, while the team recorded 11 new season-best times during the meet.

In its home opener at the Villanova Swim Center on Friday evening, Villanova (3-2) clinched a victory late in the meet and defeated West Virginia (3-3) by a final of 135-106 in a 13-event NCAA program. The Wildcats secured the win in the final individual event of the evening and added a relay win in the last race to account for the final margin.

Terrell Chestnut was expected to visit Pittsburgh this weekend, however he was unable to make the visit due to a scheduling conflict. Scout.com spoke to him about the Panthers anyway and confirmed that he will visit at some point.
