Southern Miss Golden Eagles

Four seniors, five juniors, one sophomore and a redshirt freshman were named to the 2009 Conference USA All-Academic Team, as selected by the league's Sports Information Directors for women's volleyball. The all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a starter or key reserve on their team.

Southern Miss takes on Conference USA West foe Tulsa, Saturday, to close out its home season and celebrate the careers of 20 Golden Eagle seniors as well as continue to battle for the East Division title.

The final Fedora Friday Football Luncheon with Larry Fedora will be held today, Nov. 20, at the Thad Cochran Center from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Three-star defensive end Tyrunn Walker of Jones County Community College has the size and speed package that makes coaches drool. At 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, Walker is almost impossible to block at times with his 4.84 speed.

The 6' 5", 270 pound defensive linemen was committed to Ole Miss for nearly two years before the Rebels made a coaching change. He ended up inking with Southern Miss but left the program in the fall of his freshman season and ended up at Co-Linn CC.
