Penn State scored eight runs in the fifth inning, the most runs the Nittany Lions have scored in a single inning this season, and Mike Lorentson turned in a solid performance after giving up three runs in the first inning as he put up six consecutive scoreless innings after that to lead Penn State to an 11-8 win over Iowa and the series sweep on Sunday afternoon. Penn State finishes the year with a 15-9 mark at home and will remain in fourth place in the Big Ten standings entering the final weekend of the regular season next weekend.

One day after notching the program's first victory in the 64-team NCAA Championship format, the 39th-ranked Nittany Lion men's tennis team (16-12, 6-4 Big Ten) suffered a 4-0 setback at the hands of host No. 1 Virginia (30-0, 11-0 ACC) in the NCAA Round of 32.

Joe Blackburn drove a game-winning grand slam just under the scoreboard in left field with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning and Cory Wine also hit a home run, a two-run shot, in the bottom of the seventh as the Nittany Lions overcame a three-run deficit in its final at bat to defeat Iowa, 13-9 and sweep the Hawkeyes in the Saturday doubleheader. The victory secured Penn State's first series win over the Hawkeyes since 2000 and also puts them over .500 in conference play (14-13) and alone in fourth place in the Big Ten.

The BigTime Showcase was held at Rutgers Stadium this past Thursday evening/night. Marco Battaglia and Ray Lucas certainly added appeal to the event as they helped coach some of tomorrow's young stars, but it was the individual testing and 1-on-1's that highlighted the showcase.

Now that four-star athlete Aaron Hayward’s film is making its way to college football coaches across the country the New Jersey native is seeing the interest rise. Previously, all people had to go by was game film, but not anymore.
