M. Swimming. No. 25 Men's Swimming & Diving Falls Behind No. 8 Virginia on First Day of Dual Meet

The No. 25 Penn State men's swimming & diving team received strong performances from the victorious 200 freestlye relay squad, Luke Bushman (Green Bay, Wis.) and Dan Fimbianti (Mahwah, N.J.), but trail No. 8 Virginia after the first day of the teams' dual meet.

W. Swimming. No. 24 Women's Swimming & Diving Trails No. 11 Virginia, 117-50 Following Friday's Action

Despite hanging tough all evening long, the No. 24 Penn State women's swimming and diving team finished Friday in a 117-50 hole against No. 11 Virginia with Saturday's action still to come. The Lions' lone victory came from junior Ilana Zeises (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) in three-meter diving while freshman Amy Modglin (Fort Myers, Fla.) was within a split second of two wins. She also swam to a near record performance with a career-best and NCAA `B' Qualifying Cut in the 200 backstroke. The two squads reconvene on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the McCoy Natatorium.

W. Volleyball. No. 1 Penn State Defeats Purdue, 3-1

The top-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team clinched at least a share of the 2009 Big Ten title with a 3-1 (29-31, 25-17, 25-17, 25-20) victory against Purdue (12-16, 4-13). Penn State has now won 93 straight matches and is now in sole possession of second place among all Division I winning streaks. A defeat of Indiana on Saturday would give Penn State its 13th overall and seventh consecutive outright Big Ten title.
