The Oklahoma softball team (43-12) will be making its 15th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament this Friday as the Sooners were chosen as a No. 10 overall seed and will host a regional in Norman. Arkansas, Tulsa and Oregon will join Oklahoma in the four-team field at the OU Softball Complex this weekend.The regional (May 16-18) is double-elimination and runs through Sunday at the OU Softball Complex. The winner of the Norman Regional will match up with the winner of the Hempstead Regional between No. 7 Arizona, Hofstra, Long Island and Canisius in the Super Regionals (May 23-25)."We are so excited for our team and for our fans that we have the opportunity to play in front of our home fans," head coach Patty Gasso said. "Our team worked hard all year to earn and I'm so proud of them for that. Also, we played every team in our four-team regional earlier this season so we are familiar with them."
The Oklahoma Sooners finished off the Kansas State Wildcats and the three-game series with a convincing 10-2 win on Sunday during the home finale at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Sunday also marked the final home game for seven OU seniors (Aljay Davis, Mike Gosse, Jarod Freeman, Jake McCarter, Ryan Mottern, Drew Roberts and Zach Sawyer).
The University of Oklahoma women's basketball team touched down at Leonardo Di Vinci International early Sunday morning, taking its first steps inside Italy on its summer European tour.The team left Oklahoma early Saturday morning for a connecting flight to Atlanta, then a nine-hour flight overseas to Rome. The Sooners will spend Sunday touring ancient Rome and the Colosseum.
