The University of Oklahoma women's rowing team begins the 2010 campaign, this weekend at the OU Invitational. As the second season begins for the program, the Sooners look to build on last year's success with veteran leadership and a strong freshman classThis season Oklahoma looks to its veteran leadership in Chelsea Moore and Meagan Harrell and sophomore coxswain Lauren Price, who all competed with the varsity four in 2009. The Sooners have four returning rowers from the first novice eight, including sophomore Brooke Sheppard, senior coxswain Kelsey Witten, sophomore Sarah Kelle and senior Monique Gaines, that move into varsity boats this season. Murray State transfer Nicole Furmanek, joins the varsity roster as a freshman racing in the First Varsity Eight.
The OU women's gymnastics squad head's to Friday's regular season home finale ranked second in the country after posting the highest score in the NCAA this season in its 197.950-197.275 upset of top-ranked Alabama on March 5.
The OU men's hoops team plays a first-round Big 12 Championship game Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT when it faces Oklahoma State inside Kansas City's Sprint Center. The 10th-seeded Sooners, who have lost eight straight games, own a 19-10 Big 12 Championship record and are 14-6 in the event in Kansas City. Oklahoma State has won five of its last seven games and is the tournament's No. 7 seed. Wednesday's game will air on the Sooner Radio Network with Bob Barry Sr. and Mike Houck calling the action.
