We're sorry, but this discussion has just been closed to further replies.
We're looking for a discussion who you think your team will select in the draft. Give us an educated reason and we may change our thoughts on our mock draft. Do you think your team will keep a pick? Will they find a free agent for their needs and draft another position? Tell us what you think will happen in the draft.
I'd like to see the Cardinals draft Jonathan Stewart with the 16th pick, but I have a feeling the Stewart's stock will rise and he won't be available that late. If he's not there, the Cards really need help in the secondary and on the defensive line.
As a Jets fan, I am lucky enough to know we filled TWO huge needs with Kris Jenkins as a true 1-gap DT and Alan Faneca (even at 31) to play offensive guard.
However, we still need O-Line depth at tackle and guard. But fortunately, with $40-million spent on Faneca (big bucks, no whammies!)...we can wait until Day Two.
With that 6th pick, I want value. VALUE. With Tommy Kelly getting insane bank in Oakland, they won't take USC's Sedrick Ellis. Instead, McFadden is the likely pick.
Which means Gholston is there at 6, to play the 3/4 (standing up or down, probably up...depending on what we do with DeWayne). It's a tremendous pick at 6 after his combine and to keep him away from New England.
However...at 6, if McFadden is there...TRADE THE PICK. Don't move down past the top 10, but if you can...there is plenty of value to still be had. Like Calais Campbell, the kid out of Clemson, or even Aqib Talib to pair with Darrell Revis (Mel Kiper has Talib as the #1 secondary-guy).
Value is the name of the game, folks.

I really think there is a great chance that the 49ers won't take a WR with their first pick. I really believe that Jax will not draft Quintin Groves and he will fall to #29 and that's who the 49ers will draft in the first round. He is a perfect fit for the 3-4 defense. If Groves is not available, and Cherilus is, then I think he becomes our pick. I think only if those two guys are gone could we potentially go WR in the 1st. I would think that if those two guys weren't available, the 49ers would go OG/OT but I think the guys left like Nicks (Nebraska) and Baker (USC) might be too much of a reach for #29. I just think that there is no #1 receiver in this draft, but there is a lot of quality so you would essentially be getting the same caliber of player at 29 that you would at 39. So if one of those two guys is there at #29, the 49ers go with Groves or Cherilus and then they could draft Hardy, Doucet, Manningham (to name a couple possibilities) in the 2nd round.
