M. Basketball. STEVENS: Hobson Scores 30 in Lobos' 81-52 Romp

To put the beauty, the totality, of the Lobos 81-52 romp over Louisiana Tech into perspective, you first have to understand something about La-Tech. This is a wall-to-wall talented team. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, they just ran into a wall-to-wall talented Lobos team Saturday night in The Pit that also stresses some of those fundamental, Steve-Alford-type things like defense, rebounding, and unselfish team play. The dissection of La-Tech was a second-half exhibition in how little things can add up to a big victory, especially when those little things are coming out of extremely talented bodies.

Football. STEVENS: Aho's Field Goal Brings Lobos a Joyous 29-27 Win

New Mexico's James Aho trotted out onto University Stadium with 15 seconds hovering between the Lobos and the possibility of a winless season and Aho casually told his holder, Adam Miller: "It's going in for you, Adam." And then the Colorado State Rams tried to ice the Lobo kicker with a timeout and maybe remind the sophomore that the space in the middle was guarded by two posts - posts Aho had hit four times a week earlier in a loss to BYU. The "icing" didn't work and Aho blasted a 27-yarder through and the Lobos finally got to celebrate a victory in 2009. "It hasn't been happy like this in here for quite a while and after so many losses, you almost forget what it feels like," said Lobo senior Frankie Baca.
