Ski. 2009-10 New Mexico Ski Team Season Preview

Eight All-Americans return to the University of New Mexico ski team for the 2010 season, including 2009 NCAA women's slalom champion Malin Hemmingsson. The Lobos are working hard to defend their 2009 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association/NCAA West Regional championship title and improve on their third-place finish at the NCAA National Championships.

M. Soccer. New Mexico Falls To Sac State On PK's In MPSF Championship

The University of New Mexico men's soccer team fell to Sacramento State on penalty kicks this afternoon in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament Championship Game. New Mexico outshot Sacramento State considerably, posting 21 shots to the Hornets' 15, but the Lobos weren't able to net a third goal. The score remained tied 2-2 after two overtime periods. Sacramento State advanced on PK's by a mark of 5-4 to take the MPSF Tournament title and the automatic NCAA bid it affords.

The New Mexico Lobos outgunned the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles 80-64 Sunday afternoon in The Pit and advance to play Oklahoma State in the Women's National Invitation Tournament's semifinals. That game will be played 7 p.m. Wednesday in The Pit. UNM was paced by a career-high 24 points from Sara Halasz and a career-high 12 points from Porche Torrance. Amy Beggin scored 20 points.

Taking some more trips

One of the Nebraska visitors that was in for the Oklahoma game was Derrick Malone, a three star safety from Colton (Calif.). The Huskers had a big night, particularly at the safety position, to have such a visitor in for the game. Malone left Lincoln without committing, but the highly sought after player has Nebraska very high on his board.

Best Weekend Ever For McReynolds

Kevin McReynolds made the trip from Washington (D.C.) to Penn State this weekend and he noticed a big difference between the love for PA sports compared to anywhere in the country. The Nittany Nation showed him love from the time he arrived until he crossed the Pennsylvania/Maryland border on his way home.
