Michigan State finished 13th in the final Associated Press men's college basketball poll Monday.

Michigan State has had some problems this season, but it's not a dysfunctional team, coach Tom Izzo says. "Some guys are grown up and some guys are immature," the Spartans' coach said.

The Spartans (24-8), a No. 5 seed, will play the Aggies (22-11), a No. 12 seed, on Friday in Spokane, Wash., home of former MSU coach Jud Heathcote.

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with former Detroit Lions outside linebacker Paris Lenon.

Criticized for suspending some top players this season, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo today backed his moves.

Kansas was on top of the preseason poll, and the Jayhawks were in the same spot in the season's final Top 25.

The Michigan State wrestling team will send a total of six student-athletes to this year's NCAA Championships. At-large selections Kyle Bounds (165) and Nick Palmieri (184) will join Franklin Gomez (133), David Cheza (149), Anthony Jones Jr. (157) and Ian Hinton (174), who all earned automatic berths as a result of their finishes at the Big Ten Championships, at this year's NCAA Championships.

The Michigan State baseball team will take on Eastern Michigan on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Ypsilanti. The game is a makeup for the March 12 contest that was cancelled due to rain.

Jessica Bracamonte of the Michigan State softball team was named the Big Ten Softball Player of the Week by the conference office today (March 15). This is the first time she has been honored with the award in her career, and is the first Spartan to receive the award this season. The last Spartan to be named Big Ten Softball Player of the Week was Lindsey Hansen on March 2, 2009.

Several of the state's top recruits are participating in the Badger Sports/New Level Athletics 7-on-7 tournament which is held next month. Scout.com has produced a team for the second consecutive year which practiced for the first time together this past Saturday.

We knew Chicago Simeon (Ill.) OT Chris Bryant was big, but he showed at the Michigan Showcase that he was athletic and powerful as well. Here is a look at him on tape from that event.
