In a game in which Purdue was having its way with Michigan State's defense, and the Spartans' offense wasn't providing enough points to counteract the Boilermakers, Michigan State's special teams made the difference.

Despite giving up 524 yards, the Spartans triumphed through a combination of big plays in all three phases -- offense, defense and special teams.

Michigan State completed a weekend sweep of archrival Michigan on Saturday with a 2-0 shutout of the Wolverines at Munn Ice Arena. A capacity crowd of 7,009 watched the Spartans win both ends of a weekend set for the first time since the 1997-98 season, and sophomore goaltender Drew Palmisano record a 31-save shutout. Looking to end its three-match losing skid, the Michigan State volleyball team (17-11, 5-11 Big Ten) downed the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Jenison Field House. The win mark the Spartans' first against the Boilermakers since a win at home in 2007. Senior Vanessa King (Spring Lake, Mich.) led all Spartans with her .571 attack percentage while tallying 10 kills.

The No. 10 Michigan State women's basketball team looks to rebound after Friday's season opening loss, as it travels to Detroit to face the Titans on Sunday at noon. Sophomore Courtney Schiffauer set or tied career highs in points (21), rebounds (9), assists (4) and made 3-point field goals (4) on Friday night.
