The Marquette women's basketball team closes out a short two-game homestand at the Al McGuire Center Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m., against Oakland before it heads to Cancun, Mexico to play in the Caribbean Challenge over the Thanksgiving holiday. A live audio stream will be provided by WMUR.

Marquette junior guard Angel Robinson has been named to the 2009-10 Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List presented by AT&T. The Naismith Trophy is the most prestigious national award presented annually to college basketball's players of the year.

Freshman guard Junior Cadougan will join Steve "The Homer" True for Saturday night's radio broadcast on 540 ESPN of Marquette's matchup with Grambling State, serving as the analyst.

Junior setter Nikki Klingsporn and sophomore outside hitter Ashley Beyer were each named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, announced Thursday night at the BIG EAST Conference's annual awards banquet.

The Marquette University men's basketball team continues its season-opening four-game homestand Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. when the team hosts Grambling State in non-conference action. Sports32 will feature the live broadcast, with Dennis Krause (play-by-play) and Jim McIlvaine (analyst) calling the action on the court.

Marquette tries to improve its record to 3-0 on Saturday. Standing in their way are the Tigers of Grambling State.

Now that the Marquette early signing period has concluded, I asked MU asst coach Tony Benford to provide a summary of each player. MU was able to add two athletic combo guards in 6-4 Vander Blue and 6-1 Reggie Smith, as well as a 6-6 SF sharp shooter in Jamail Jones. The staff is not done as it will try to find a big in the late signing period.

MU has been intrigued by Smith for several yrs….he is 6-1 combo guard at Thornton Township which is in Harvey Ill…we had a scouting report on Smith earlier this summer provided by Roy Schmidt of the Illinois Bullesye Prep Report….In our interview, Roy mentioned that Smith had an outstanding Jr yr…was actually 1st or 2nd team ‘all state’ by many sources….great athlete…high energy guy…intensity…

Interesting was beginning to pick up for Reggie Smith, and then he opted to end his recruitment. He committed and signed on Thursday.
