COLUMBUS, Ohio - Marquette University cut 15 strokes off of its opening round score during second-round action Friday at the NCAA Central Regional held at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. Although the Golden Eagles didn't move much in the team standings, junior Mike Van Sickle became a contender among the individuals, carding an even-par 71.

Senior women's soccer player Laura Boyer and men's basketball player Ousmane Barro were named the 2008 Ralph H. Metcalfe Senior Outstanding Athletes Friday evening at the Senior Athletics Awards banquet held at Marquette's Alumni Memorial Union.

Playing in its first NCAA Championship tournament, the Marquette University men's golf team struggled to find its groove during opening-round action Thursday at the Central Regional in Columbus, Ohio. Led by junior Mike Van Sickle's five-over 76, the Golden Eagles scored a 314 at the par-71, 7,419-yard Scarlet Course.

Marquette University men's basketball coach Buzz Williams will be the featured guest Monday afternoon on the latest edition of the Dennis Krause Show on Time Warner Sports Channel 32.
