Lakers' Phil Jackson cancels practice to take inventory

The schedule will loosen up over the next few weeks, but the team must first figure out what went wrong in its 105-79 loss to Denver.

Nuggets hope they sent message to Lakers and league

Denver's 105-79 win over L.A. on Friday erased some of the Nuggets' pain from last season's loss in the Western Conference finals and showed they want more this season.

80-2 now the best offer: Nuggets 105, Lakers 79

Even champs gets theirs handed to them every once in a while. Forum Blue and Gold's Kurt Helin reminded folks yesterday that while altitude on the flip side of a back-to-back may not serve as an "excuse" for poor play, it does qualify a legit "explanation." And I imagine the travel/air does provide at least a little insight as to what went so poorly. But make no mistake. This was an up, down and sideways beatdown that hardly stemmed from just one issue. Among other reasons... -Kobe Bryant failing to dominate the post. This could also reflect the fatigue cited...

Nuggets 105, Lakers 79: Postgame Chat

For those of you who had to stop watching at halftime, congratulations. You did the right thing. At that point, it was a 58-56 Denver lead at the break in a competitive, well played game. In the third, the Nuggets blew the doors off, outscoring the purple and gold 29-8, the Lakers doing themselves no favors by turning the ball over too much and struggling to move the ball offensively. From there, it was basically a matter of how fast they could get to the team plane. Final score, 105-78. Couple thoughts: I do think fatigue was a factor, as...

Lakers at Nuggets: Game Chat

A few reminders: First, hang out after the game for the postgame chat. It'll start about 10 minutes after the final buzzer, and is more Q and A than typical in-game free for all. Not every comment will go through. The goal is for it to actually be readable for those who aren't able to participate. Second, if you haven't already (and are so inclined), remember to start following us now at latimesKbros on the Twitter. Obviously tonight's tussle is as about as anticipated a game as can be had so early in the season. The Nuggets are fired up,...

Lakers are flexing their star power

DENVER - Someone sent this out via Twitter on Thursday, shouting all the relevant info in all caps, apparently so excited that the words tumbled out in the wrong order: "RON ARTEST BIRTHDAY PARTY ADDRESS NOVEMBER 14TH: CLUB EMPIRE 1716 N. CAHUENGA...

Lakers' faith in Artest in question

DENVER - Carmelo Anthony's strong start to the season got back on track with a couple of drives and several transition scores, and suddenly the Lakers' faith in Ron Artest as a defensive answer has to be shaken a little. Anthony overwhelmed the...

NBA: James proposes retiring No. 23 to honor Jordan

LeBron James is giving up No. 23, he says, to honor Michael Jordan, and he'd like the rest of the NBA to do the same. James says he plans to wear No. 6 in the future; that number, by the way, is available on the Knicks, Nets, Heat ... and Lakers....

So about Brandon Jennings.....

Dude has been a baller thus far in the league. I know people doubted his talent due to not putting up huge numbers overseas and he also rubbed people the wrong way with his remarks toward the golden boy Rubio but I think he is on his way to proving that he is an elite talent. To bad he is stuck on a horrible Milwaukee squad.

Re: So about Brandon Jennings.....

i liked jennings before the draft, thought he got too much negative press. kid can play. i think he can be a better tj ford.
