Florida State University says it's unfair to make football coach Bobby Bowden and others they say played no role in an academic cheating scandal give up wins. The university appealed an NCAA infractions committee decision Wednesday to strip the school of victories in several sports, including individual records of innocent coaches and athletes.

Reserve linebacker Maurice Harris has been suspended at Florida State. In a news release from the school Tuesday, Coach Bobby Bowden said the sophomore from Homestead was suspended indefinitely after his arrest by campus police on Monday.

Florida State's men's and women's basketball teams will play overseas this summer in trips financed in total by Nike as part of its contract with Florida State Athletics. The men's team will head to Spain on August 11 for games stretching from August 13-22nd and the women's team will depart for South Africa on August 10 for games from the 12th to the 19th. As part of Florida State's contract, the entire trip for both teams are funded by Nike which sponsors international tours for universities every four years.

Sean Gilmartin wrapped up the 2009 season with a pair of first team Freshman All-America awards as announced by Baseball America and Rivals.com. Gilmartin put a stamp on his first season with the Garnet and Gold as he was named an All-American and/or Freshman All-American by six different organizations or publications this year.

“If Florida offers that’ll change things,” Anthony Williams said. “They’d be a top choice and it would be hard to say ‘no’ to them.” Williams will be attending the Florida Friday Night Lights camp later this month. “I’m hoping they offer. I hope I do well at the camp. Right now I’m just waiting to see what happens after the Florida camp." Williams also plans to camp at Florida State and LSU.

Keion Payne is set for a great senior year as he’ll be apart of arguably the top defensive backfield in the nation. Over the next couple weeks Payne will be going head to head with some of the nation’s best as he’ll be attending 2 of the top camps in the country over the next few weeks.
