It is with great regret that I must report that Monday the University confirmed that Josh Smith WR and Ryan Wallace TE have elected to transfer schools according to ESPN. Smith was a clear asset to the team on special teams as a returner and on offense as a wide receiver. He reportedly wanted to transfer to a school that would provide improved opportunities to pursue his rap music career. Wallace was part of the nationally ranked 2008 recruiting class and would have seen action likely in his sophomore year. He elected to transfer to return closer to his family in Kentucky. I hope this is the end of the attrition in the program but I wonder how Darrell Scott will respond to the departure of his uncle Josh Smith.

After last season, you may have thought the injuries to our line had come to an end. I'm sure we all hoped that was the case. But think again; on Tuesday (March 3rd) Max Tuioti-Mariner tore his ACL, again, for the third time since his senior season in high school. His ACL tore during conditioning drills, and it was the same leg that he hurt back in high school (his left). Tuioti-Mariner tore his right ACL last season and was forced to miss most of the season. With spring practices starting up March 31st, Tuioti-Mariner will miss spring practices but should be ready to go come September 5th for the game against CSU.

NOTE: Spring Game is April 25th at 1:00 PM at Folsom. Try to make it out and support the team, we have good potential to have a great season, but more on that later so keep checking back for updates....
