Cincinnati Bearcats

Coming off a 2008 season in which Cincinnati's volleyball team won a share of the Big East regular-season title, coach Reed Sunahara was optimistic the Bearcats' success would continue. Five freshmen - and their upperclass mentors - have delivered another strong regular season.

Junior Stephanie Niemer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) led all players with 15 kills and added 10 digs for her 10th double-double of the season, while freshman Emily Hayden (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) put on a show in her first career match in her hometown with 13 kills en route to a .632 hitting percentage.

The Capital One All-America Mascot Challenge has reached the first week of the playoffs and the Bearcat is one of eight mascots who is still in the race to win the title of National Mascot of the Year. In a spirited battle against Sebastian the Ibis from Miami (FL), Bearcat is competing for a spot in the Final Four and needs the support of Bearcats fans from across the country.
